(Ir)Reverend Ramblings

Welcome to my new blog – (Ir)Reverend Ramblings. Like any naming process this one took time. I put out a challenge to my family to come up with suggestions and they provided me lots of interesting alternatives. Then I threw those names out to a number of people for an informal vote to see which one would be the popular choice. In the end I tweaked it a bit and ‘voila’ (Ir)Reverend Ramblings was born.
Naming is important. I remember visiting a woman in the hospital. She had just given birth to her fourth child.I asked her what his name was and she looked at me with astonishment. “Well, we have to look at him for a while and live with him a bit to know what he is like before we can give him a name.”
Naming plays an important part in the Biblical story too. From Adam and Eve naming the creatures of the earth to Moses asking for God’s name, from Jesus calling Peter ‘the Rock’ to Saul changing his name to Paul; it is clear that names were and are significant.
